Our Story – Harvest Baking Co.

At Harvest Baking Co., our journey began long before the company was officially founded. My entrepreneurial spirit took root in childhood, with ventures in landscaping, shaved ice, and dog walking, eventually leading to a bakery job at 13. From the moment I stepped into that bakery, I was captivated by the art of crafting artisan bread. Inspired by an artisan baking course I took with my dad, I dedicated the next five years to mastering bread, pastries, and beyond.

Harvest Baking Co. was born out of necessity and passion. As my love for baking grew, I realized how challenging it was to find quality artisan baking tools and ingredients. I began sourcing and selling them to local bakeries, and soon, Harvest Baking took shape as a platform to share these products with a wider community of home and professional bakers.

The Bear Starter

The starter at the heart of everything we sell has its own story — a 150-year-old heirloom culture with roots in the BC gold rush, passed down and kept alive ever since. I dehydrate it so it ships safely and waits patiently in your cupboard until you're ready, then comes back to life with nothing more than flour and water. It's the same culture, the same history, just made easier to bring into your kitchen.

Our mission at Harvest Baking Co. is simple: to bring the joy of artisan baking to everyone, from beginners to seasoned professionals. We strive to provide top-quality, hand-selected baking tools and ingredients that make baking accessible and enjoyable. Beyond products, we aim to foster a supportive community where bakers can share knowledge, ask questions, and inspire each other.

Quality and Craftsmanship

Quality is at the heart of everything we do. Each product we sell has been rigorously tested and is something I personally use as a professional baker. Many items are made in-house, while others come from smaller, ethical manufacturers who share our commitment to craftsmanship. Before shipping, we carefully inspect every item to ensure it meets our high standards.

Community and Learning

We're not just a store; we're a community. The Crumb Club — our baking forum — is now live and open to all Harvest Baking customers. It's a place to ask questions, share what you've baked, troubleshoot a cranky starter, and connect with other bakers. We're also working on sourdough courses, so stay tuned for that.
